"It is more important to know
what sort of person has a disease than to know what type of
disease a person has"
Osteopathy is an healing art which involves
the diagnosis and treatment of structural, muscular and mechanical
dysfunctions of the body.
Whilst the spine is important in the maintenance and treatment
of disease, osteopathy is now much wider than the mere examination
and treatment of bones.
Genetic, developmental, dietary, environmental and psychological
factors can all contribute to disease and infection.
Patients frequently discover that after treatment for their
main complaint, they experience improvement in other conditions
from which they may have been suffering, but did not associate
with their 'bad back'. Headache, menstrual disorders, chronic
respiratory conditions, constipation and digestive problems
are examples of these.
Osteopathic medicine offers something more to health care,
not something else. |

'The doctor of the future will
give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of
the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.'
Thomas Edison (1847-1931)
